Tom Bispham is a senior finance professional with 30 years of investment and commercial banking experience in Asia, the Americas and Europe. He has been Senior Advisor to Amroc Investments Asia, which develops distressed debt and equity investments in the region (power, energy, infrastructure, industrial and transportation transactions) primarily for the US$5.5 billion Avenue Fund, affiliated with Texas Pacific ($2.6 billion for Asia); and was Senior Advisor to Lim Advisors, Hong Kong based fund manager (Long Investment Management), for metals & mining private equity investments -- as Managing Director of Capital Exchange, Inc., an advisory firm with offices in Hong Kong and Seoul, which raised $73million for Cargo 360, a new FAA certified air cargo company. He is currently an Executive Director with Huthart & Company a financial services industry executive recruiter, headquartered in Hong Kong.
Mr. Bispham moved to Asia in 1995, when he joined Peregrine Investment Holdings Ltd. to start up its infrastructure project finance business. Prior to that he traveled to the region on behalf of Bear Stearns (NY) as Managing Director and Co-Head of Project Finance. He was recognized in 1996 by Independent Energy magazine "for pioneering achievement in the global private power industry."
After Peregrine's demise, Mr. Bispham served as Chief Operating Officer of JPMorgan's Asia Pacific investment banking business, and as a senior banker.
His transaction history includes representing Hopewell Holdings in the $2.7 billion sale of its 80% interest in its pan-Asian affiliate, Consolidated Electric Power Asia ("CEPA"), to Southern Electric (now Mirant); advising Entergy in its $50 million equity investment in the Hub River (Pakistan) power project; advising Unocal in financing the development of the Shahbazpur (Bangladesh) Gas Field plus pipeline and power plant projects; and assisting Florida Power & Light's affiliate, ESI Energy, to become the third largest utility IPP in the US.
His client list includes such companies as Bechtel Investments, China Light & Power Company, Sithe China, Western Resources (now Westar), Hawker Siddeley Power Engineering, TransCanada Pipelines Ltd., Amerada Hess Corporation, BP, Caltex, Unocal, ECOL Refinery Co., PT Inco Indonesia, BHP Billiton, Phelps Dodge Corporation, COSCO, Qantas, and the Western Access Tollroad Company (Argentina).
He has completed mining finance transactions in coal, waste coal, iron ore, copper, nickel, molybdenum, lead/zinc, gold, industrial minerals - for firms like AMAX, ARCO, Asarco, Anaconda, Kennecott Copper, Denison, Inco, P.T. Inco Indonesia, Rosario Resources, Sun, Westmoreland Coal Co., Halecrest Company, Mt. Hope Iron Mine (reactivation).
