Mr. Acheson joined Behre Dolbear in 1997 to establish the London office. He has over 50 years of experience in the mining industry including: hands-on metallurgical engineering; management and organization; technical and economic project analysis; startups; negotiations with investors, banks and government agencies; joint ventures; financing; marketing; metallurgical engineering; and human resources. He has experience with in-depth due-diligence analyses and feasibility studies. After completing an engineering degree from the University of Cape Town and an economics degree (PPE) from Oxford, as a Rhodes Scholar, Mr. Acheson entered the mining industry on the Zambian Copperbelt, where he gained experience in all aspects of copper processing. He rose to become deputy managing director of Roan Consolidated Mines with full business, financial and human resources responsibility. He was subsequently President of St. Joe Minerals Corporation's subsidiaries in Chile, with full responsibilities for feasibility study, construction, startup, and steady production phases of the El Indio gold-copper-silver mine, including government and bank negotiations. He thus has direct experience with the organization of a large mining complex in a remote, mountainous area, including the infrastructure, environmental and community aspects.
